May Jesus Christ Be Praised

This is the second and third verse of a hymn we sang this morning. It moved me to tears because it spoke to me in my present state. I thought I would share it.

When sleep her balm denies, My silent spirit sighs,
May Jesus Christ be praised:
When evil thoughts molest, With this I shield my breast,
May Jesus Christ be praised.

Does sadness fill my mind? A solace here I find,
May Jesus Christ be praised.
Or fades my earthly bliss? My comfort still is this,
May Jesus Christ be praised.

Trinity Hymnal

Psalm 34:17 &18
17 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears
and delivers them out of all their troubles.
18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.

Ah, and "He knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him." Ps. 103:14,13
