A LONG Picturesque Look At Our Mini Vacation

Wow. We had such a great time! I haven't been to the ocean in I can't even remember when. I had forgotten just how much I enjoyed sitting on the beach, watching the waves and loving the sounds of the ocean!

Frankly, I could have stayed a little longer. :(

It was so nice to just relax and forget about how stressful the last few months have been. Funny how the ocean just melts all your worries away. It was something we enjoyed so much that we're planning on doing it every year now. Actually, we've talked about another little jaunt down to the beach in September. We're hooked.

And it's not near as fattening as all of this baking I've been doing. (However, I'm at it again. I made a big batch of granola tonight. Recipe coming soon to a blog near you.)

You couldn't expect me to return without any pictures though, could you?

And for your viewing pleasure, a brief look into our mini vacation.

The view from our condo. Blast that telephone pole!

Hmmm...what to do first...

The girls weren't quite sure what to make of the ocean at first.

Liv liked the waves. As long as they were little.

We couldn't keep this one out of the ocean!! Fearless baby!

She was quite fond of the sand as well. Look at her squishy baby rolls!

Lest you think the child was in pain, let me assure you. I had just finished burying her (oh my, that sounds creepy) when I went to take her picture. Sis shook out a towel and sand went flying into Liv's eyes. Oh wait. I guess she was in pain. I stand corrected.

Day Two:
Diggin' the waves AND the I Dream of Jeannie hairdo.

And after yet ANOTHER face plant. This child ate so much sand that I fully expect to find pearls in her diaper next month.

In case you're wondering why there aren't that many pictures of Sis, let me enlighten you. She loved the ocean! She spent most of her time looking for shells or boogie boarding in the waves. I, on the other hand, spent my time under our rented beach umbrella with my pregnant hiney happily glued to my beach chair, in a reclined position. I was just too lazy to go take pictures because that would have meant I had to get up. And I was not willing to make that sacrifice. We paid good money to rent that umbrella and those chairs and by golly, I was gonna use them.

Sis, showing off her seashell stash. She's covered practically from head to toe because unfortunately, she inherited her mother's skin. She is like a sheet of parchment. Delicate, white as a lily, parchment. She still managed to sunburn the back of her legs and hiney from boogie boarding though.

The ONLY picture you will ever see of me in a swimsuit on this here blog. I just needed to prove that I was actually there. Sitting in a beach chair under the umbrella. With really bad hair. And just so you know...I left it dark on purpose.

Mmmm, shaved ice! Sis got watermelon, Liv got banana, I got red raspberry...and Monk? VANILLA...ewwww!! I love the man, but tell me, really...who gets VANILLA shaved ice? Ick.

Beach aftermath. Children fear it. Parents love it.

Only the best shrimp to EVER touch these lips. And I have some shrimp lovin' lips, y'all. If you're ever in Galveston, TX, you must eat at Casey's Seafood Cafe.

What? It was our anniversary and it was complimentary. We shared. Mostly.

The 8 year old's photo skillz are not so bad. But, oh my hair! What is up with my hair?

There were never such devoted sisters. (Anyone know the musical?)

She stands just like my mother. And me. Apparently, it's hereditary.

And finally, on the way home we found a fruit and veggie stand with locally grown stuff. This is what we bought and munched on while heading home. See, we're healthy.

And there you have it! A long and slightly enjoyable peek at our mini vacation. Wouldn't you hate to see the pictures from a long, bona fide vacation? Yikes.

The musical - White Christmas? I see nothing wrong with that meal - except that my baby is so big that she would dpriv me of being able to eat it all. (I am 7 months along!) And my hubby took pictures of me on the beach with our kids on our vacation - I keep TELLING myself I'll be grateful to have pictures of my GINORMUS fanny years from now. Right? RIGHT?

Great pics! I want to go to the beach! I haven't been in so long. I'm not used to living so far from it. And I have yet to have gone to any beaches in Texas.
