No Excuses

That would be for not posting anything all week! OY! And I call myself a blogger!

Honestly, not too much blog-worthy news has been happening in these here parts lately. Unless, of course, y'all would really like a whole post devoted to Charlotte's new habit of biting me while she nurses. I think it's fair to say that I might title it something like:

YEEEOOUUCH!!!! or #%&*#*$@*!!!

Oh, I kid on that last one. Mostly.

Anyway, I'll tell you a little bit of what's been going on in my little pea brain and that might explain why I've been a little Out 'o The Loop lately. In bullet fashion, of course!

  • Schooling decisions have weighed heavily on me lately and have consumed my emotional tank for the better part of 3 weeks. I'm just not sure that in this juncture in my life that I am best suited for homeschooling. In other words ~ my nerves are shot! So. The decision has been made for Olivia to homeschool (1st grade work is not that difficult) and Grace will go to a local private school. Maddie will be homeschooling, but most of it will be through a homeschool enrichment program and independent studies. I may devote an entire post to this later, but for now I simply don't have the emotional energy to do so.

  • My photography business is not very busy at the moment...as in...almost nothing. And I think I'm okay with that at the moment. BUT there are lots of decisions to be made concerning that as well. I'm not the most technologically advanced person on the block and some of the computer related stuff involved just frustrates the living daylights out of me. It has been very hard to find learning resources for me ~ as in, actual physical human beings~ that would actually teach me some things. This frustrates me to no end.

  • Along those same lines, I've been debating about hiring someone to design a photography blog (mostly so I can quit fighting with blogger myself!!) for me and closing up Monk'swife altogether. I would still be here, but everything would be on the photography blog. I would still tell stories and updates, etc (oh wait, that would be if I ever, you know, actually wrote on the blog!)..., but there would also be photography related stuff on there as well. Because y'all, I really hate having two blogs. It's not fun. AT. ALL.

  • My roots are showing and this makes me especially grouchy. I need a color and highlights in the most awful of ways, but there's this little thing called....M-O-N-E-Y that has been rather scarce around here lately. That would be because of broken water pipes, birthdays, broken air conditioners and the impending tuition that is coming upon us. I have come to realize that my hair related issues may be on the brink of total disaster. It's a sad, sad day in Monkville.

  • Harley the Beast will be finding a new home shortly. I think. I put him on Craig's List and had several people interested in him. The first family, who would have been perfect, fell through. I'm still waiting to hear from the second guy. The emotional toll this dog alone has taken on my life has been just short of mind bending. He's not a bad dog per se, just high maintenance. And OH. THE. HAIR. this dog produces!!! I absolutely cannot wait to be free of this hair producing machine!

  • And lastly, I've just been in a funk. A depressing funk. When I'm in these sorts of funks I either write a LOT or I don't write at all. I bet y'all can guess which one I'm in, huh?

So, anybody have any opinions about any of this? Anybody totally ticked that I want to shut down this blog and combine it into one big one? Anybody want a post on the Booby Biting Baby?

Anyone? Anyone?

Bueller? Bueller?

Hi girl!

I knew you had been in a funk because you hadn't been writing, and I TOTALLY understand that!!! I have been in one too, so I may not be the best person to comment, but you asked, so here are my thoughts:

1.About biting while nursing:When my kids used to do that, I would thump (not hard, REALLY, just thump, their top lip, and they soon stopped).

2.I SOOO understand the dilemma about homeschool I felt like a failure when I had to stop schooling, but my nerves also were SHOT. Dealing with my youngest just took all I had and I wasn't helping my oldest, so I had to stop. It has been a GREAT decision so far (once I got over beating myself up).

3. Don't give up on your photography yet! It is soooo good! I wish I lived closer, I would hire you at least 2x per year (just for general photography, not births! LOL!) and encourage all my friends to do so also! You would have LOTS to do!

4. As I am typing this, I am taking care of my root problem (bet you wish I had a webcam!) But I sooo totally understand that frustration. We have had to replace our air unit and now our van is dying. UGH!

5. About the dog: it is emotional (no matter how much you dislike the dog). I want to get rid of ours soo bad, but no one wants a dog and I just can't give him to the pound, so we just endure him. I really do "feel your pain" on that one. I hope you find him a good home soon.

6. How CAN you be depressed when you have a great friend like ME??? Call me anytime you need to talk. I really do understand. If you don't have my number anymore, just FB me a private message and I will send it to you. Love you and hope you keep blogging, whether on here or other spots. I love to read your blog.!!! Have a great weekend!

Okay the biting thing: Noah does it too! Ouch! I laughed out loud about your response to it, because it does make you want to cuss! ha! I have tried thumping and being stern and he laughs - every time! He is also biting my shoulder! ugh!

I LOVE your photography and when I have another baby, I will def be talking to you! :)

Oh and I think it's totally normal to be in a funk, but as long as you don't completely stop blogging and telling your funny stories, I'm okay with just one blog. But those are my terms. :)

I miss you, lady! Do you think you will be available soon to get together? Even with all your "funk" related stuff going on?

Hang in there!

p.s. I am SO glad you decided to catch us up to speed! I was a little worried! :) And I love your hair. Roots and all. And I wish I could get mine done too. Wish it was free...or you know... that I had money coming out of my ears! ha!

Delurking here ... well, at least I think that I am delurking ... this could be the second time since I forget. I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your blog ... like lots. I love your photographs and if I lived near you, which I don't I would be at your door with my 6 month old all the time. Your are fun to read, in a funk or not, so I just wanted to let you know that I would be sad if I didn't get to read about your life, roots and all. :)

I know what you mean about being in a funk. But hang in there with photography, you're really getting the hang of it, and things will come your way soon! I say this as I pray that things come MY way soon as well!
The biting, ouch, been there done that. Hope I don't have to go through that this time.
As long as you blog, it doesn't matter where :D Just be sure to blog and let me know where to find you!!

I don't care where you write, as long as you keep doing it and I can read it.

Hope your funk goes away soon!

Love your blog...keep it coming...either here or at the photography blog. I understand about not blogging much; it is hard when life just seems to get in the way! ;) Whew...homeschooling issues...I hear you. Many blessings and prayers as you seek Him! Big hugs!

Oh, Girl, I hear you! I totally understand the funk. And the roots. And the boob-biting. And the homeschooling decision-making. And the dog. Oh, the dog! But ours was cats. With litter boxes.

I'm with the commenter that said she doesn't care where you write, so long as you do and make it available. I love, love, love your blog! And your pictures!

And I'm also excited to hear that I'll actually get to meet you in December at a wedding (you met with my friends today - well, yesterday now)!

Hang in there!
