Thumpa, thumpa, thumpa, thumpa.
That was the sound I heard today while at the midwife's. It doesn't matter that I've heard it 5 times before. It doesn't get old. Ever. It's the sound of life. The sound of another miracle that God has so graciously granted me. The sound that says, "I'm here Momma! I'm still cookin', but I'm here".
Frankly, I really needed to hear that sound today. More than y'all could ever know. It reassures me that all of this nausea is for a wonderful reason. It cheers me on to say, "this is worth it"!
It reminds me once again, that God is Sovereign.
And that, my friends, is enough.

AMEN! every time I hear the heart beat I get goosebumps and normally tear up if not cry. It meant a lot to me with my first daughter, but not near as much as it does this pregnancy. After losing the last one every little kick is a constant confirmation that life is good. :) So glad you got to hear that heart beat today! :)
It's one of my favorite sounds in the world!
I never heard it with Eve, and I only hear it once with Eliza and Judah - during the pregnancy - I heard it a lot through labor because she used the Doppler. Normally my midwife just used the stethoscope. For some reason I can not hear a thing with that. It was super frustrating! Daniel and the midwife could hear the heartbeat fine, and were all "Awww!" and I couldn't hear a sound. I AM THE MOTHER! I should be hearing the sound of my growing baby's heart - right? :)
I'll bet hearing that strong heartbeat gave you the inspiration to keep on going. I am glad to hear that baby number 6 is doing so well! What a blessed baby - to have you all for a family :)

I too think it is one of the most incredible sounds a woman will ever hear (perhaps right up there with the first cry after birth!). Having had several pregnancies where the thumpa thumpa thumpa ceased and couldn't been seen or heard, I really grew to appreciate the true value of such a simple sound.

That is wonderful, I am so thrilled for you. I truly miss that sound, that knowledge that the little one is safe and sound but just not ready for the world.
You're going to make me cry!
Now....I'm just wondering....since you said this pregnancy was different, that maybe, just maybe you felt that way because you could be having a ______! I won't say it; I promise!!! BUT, you're right, God is sovereign, he is in control and that's all you need. But he also knows that if MM is to retain any sanity in the next 10 years that he might just need a _____ to escape with. I'm so glad you heard thumpa, thumpa, thumpa. What a great (late) Mother's Day Present!! Love, T.
